Warda Al-Jazairia, born Warda Fatouki on July 22, 1939, in Paris, France, was a legendary Algerian singer. With an Algerian father and a Lebanese mother, she began her career in the 1950s in Paris, singing patriotic songs in support of Algeria's independence. After independence, she moved to Algeria and later Egypt, where she became a major figure in Arabic music.Known for her powerful voice and charismatic presence, Warda collaborated with renowned composers like Baligh Hamdi, whom she married. She performed timeless classics such as Batwanes Beek and Harramt Ahebbak. Her career, spanning over 50 years, left a lasting mark on the Arab music scene. She passed away on May 17, 2012, in Cairo.
