I've always felt that making records was too influenced by commerce and rock and roll mythology to be some kind of luxury PR-worthy experience, and I would trot into expensive studios with my demos and struggle to recreate what I had been feeling months, even years earlier when the songs were written. And then I became a mother. So growing a little person, and then the pandemic hitting, I leaned into the autonomy I had always been working toward, getting to the place where I could write a song and record it in my home studio right away. So much like the painting on the cover--a melancholic, childlike woman in a bathtub--the album was made in these intimate moments of isolation and calm.
